For this exercise, I created a screencast on "How to Create PowerPoint Templates," a useful tool that many people are unfamiliar with, especially when working on long presentations. To start, I wrote a script and reviewed the necessary steps for the process. I used Camtasia to record the screen while simultaneously recording the voiceover, although in hindsight, I would separate these tasks for better editing efficiency. After recording, I assembled the video into a new timeline, adding text to outline the steps and incorporating symbols like arrows and rectangles for emphasis. I also applied video effects, such as zoom-ins and zoom-outs, by adjusting the X and Y positions to highlight key moments.
Additionally, I sourced a free image from Freepik for the cover and applied initial effects to enhance the visual appeal. During the editing process, I encountered a section where the video length was almost 8 minutes, so I sped it up 5x to condense the content while adding a voiceover for further clarity. To finish, I selected five royalty-free songs from Incompetech, edited them for timing and cuts, and integrated them into the video. The final result was a concise and engaging screencast, ready for viewers to learn how to create effective PowerPoint templates.
